Description

The unique, watercolor-painted effect of this novelty print cotton 1950s blouse was created with what was relatively unusual for textile-printing technology at the time—airbrushing. Over the top of the pastel “clouds” airbrushed background, the fabric was additionally printed with metallic gold shooting stars. Quite fabulous! Matching gold metallic braid trim finishes the round neckline and natural-waist-length hem. The cropped-length, sleeveless top has bust darts in front and vertical darts at the back waist, for a shapely fit. It closes in back with gold metal buttons from nape to hem. The lightweight cotton fabric is unlined.

In excellent, near mint condition, appearing unworn, this deadstock novelty print 1950s top has one tiny issue to note: the cotton interfacing backing the gold braid trim could stand to be pressed with an actual iron. My steamer did not get it to lay completely flat at the front neckline area, as you can see in the underside-view photo.
