This black floral cotton plissé dress from the late 1940s was originally intended as a housedress or dressing gown. But, in my opinion it is way too pretty to wear only at home! Wherever you choose to wear it, the lightweight cotton with its puckered texture similar to seersucker will keep you cool and comfy. The waist is somewhat adjustable, with an inner tie and a single snap, which could be moved a bit if you need it. In back, 2 attached ties cinch the waist above a curved seam that drops below the ties. Small gathers below this seam add fullness to the back hip area, or a kind of mini-bustle effect. The dress bodice has vertical pleats from bust to waist for shaping, short sleeves, and rounded, notched lapels. The dress is unlined, with only the snap at the waist and the attached ties to close it. This darling floral and berry print cotton 1940s dress is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
