Description

A great example of the influence of 1940s-50s clothing on 1980s fashions, this black and white polka dotted early 80s dress features retro details like wide cap sleeves, shoulder pads, and a draped peplum on the center front skirt. The mid-weight black rayon faille fabric is screen printed with off-white polka dots. The front of the V-neck bodice is pleated and gathered into an elastic waistband, above curved hip pockets. The skirt is also gathered slightly where it meets the waist. It has a small slit at the back hem. The matching off-white and black polka dot belt snaps closed (somewhat adjustable, with 3 snaps). It narrower in back and comes to a point at center front, above the dress peplum. In very good condition, this fun 80s dress has a few small issues to note, none of which are likely to be seen when it is worn. The fabric of the belt is slightly yellowed with age, the underside of each shoulder pad has rust-colored marks from a hanger, and there are a couple of tiny scuffs on the ridged surface of the faille fabric (see close-up photos).
