Description

This bold geometric and floral print silk necktie from the late 1940s combines rich dark brown circles with tiny flowers in brown and a golden yellow that reminds me of movie popcorn! The silk satin fabric has a subtle texture of ovals woven into its surface. The tie has the traditional, undyed wool interlining for shape and body, and a lightweight cream silk lining. In very good condition, it has 2 very tiny pinholes: 1 in the lining of the wider end, and 1 in the silk of the narrow end (see close-up photos). Neither should be noticed when the tie is worn. The tie has been dry-cleaned, and has no other issues to note.

As was typical of men’s ties from the era, this necktie is quite wide and short, meant to pair well with higher-waisted pants, double-breasted suits, and 3-piece suits with vests. It’s a lovely piece of vintage 1940s menswear from the swing era!
