Description
This early 1950s floral print necktie in burgundy and rainbow multi-colored rayon crepe has an unusual, faux-hand-painted design, meant to mimic the airbrushed styles popular at the time. The tie has the traditional, undyed wool interlining for shape and body inside, and a pink rayon satin lining. In excellent to mint condition, the tie appears unworn. It is labeled “True Silk”, but this is almost certainly a marketing term/fabric brand name, as the crisp crepe definitely feels like rayon to me.
As was typical of men’s ties from the era, this necktie is shorter than a modern one, meant to pair well with higher-waisted pants and suits. The tie width is a moderate 3.25 inches—not too wide but not narrow either. The bright colors and bold floral pattern of this necktie will add true vintage mid-century style to a classic men’s suit—or a ladies’ white shirt and blazer fit.
