Description

This late 1930s or early 1940s halo-style sun hat is made of braided natural golden tan-colored straw, with an open crown—built-in air-conditioning! A black grosgrain ribbon band forms the edge of the head opening, with a jaunty red grosgrain bow accenting its center back. The straw brim is sewn onto the black band, so the oval-shaped head opening is a little bit flexible. The unwired flat brim of the hat can be worn flipped more up or down in front, or tilted to one side, as you prefer. I love it worn towards the back of the head, creating a “halo” effect, but of course it will function more effectively as a sun hat if worn tilted more forward over the face. Its relatively flat shape makes this hat easier to travel with than many other straw hats of the era. This true vintage 1930s-40s wide-brimmed straw sun hat is in excellent condition, with no issues to note. It will require a large box for shipping, to protect the wide crown.
