Mr. Dino late 1960s 70s maxi dress print jersey purple black size M

In the 1960s and 70s, Max Cohen (known as Mr. Dino) designed gorgeous Pucci-style prints like this bold floral that channels both the Egyptian Revival influence of the 1920s, and the flowing organic forms popular in the early 1900s Art Nouveau era. This late 1960s or early 70s maxi dress in slinky polyester jersey features bright, saturated shades of aqua, purple, and lilac that really pop against the more neutral black, brown, and tan areas of the print. The mostly horizontal-stripe print is designed to follow the lines of the dress, with a wide stripe up the center front of the bodice as well as stripes to emphasize the high collar and the waist. Tiny gathers below the fitted waist seam add a bit of fullness through the hips. The high collar is also gathered with stitching at the center front. The long sleeves have gathers at the shoulder seams and small shoulder lifts inside, to create subtle puffs.

The lightweight jersey knit is unlined. The fabric has some stretch to it, but the fitted waist seam will not stretch (see measurements). My last photo shows the dress unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size. The dress fastens with a nylon zipper and small hooks on the collar, at the center back. In excellent condition, the only thing to note about this fabulous 1960s-70s Mr. Dino maxi dress is some yellowing to the white tag inside with the designer’s name, which is not seen when it is worn (see photo).
