Description
A practical 1930s full apron, this pullover, pinafore style is made of plum purple and off-white gingham cotton, with marigold yellow cotton piping trim. The bodice of the bib apron has a U-shaped neckline and a keyhole back with ties. The skirt section is relatively straight, with a wide hem flounce. A single, patch pocket adorns the right hip.
Intended for a loose fit, as shown, the apron’s size can be adjusted somewhat with the center back ties. I suspect that the ties may have been added as an afterthought, since they are a very slightly different shade of golden yellow than the piping. I estimate it will fit a modern size medium quite loosely, up to a large with a less-roomy fit (see measurements).
The lightweight, plain weave gingham check cotton fabric is sturdy and this approximately 90-year-old apron is in excellent condition, with no issues to note. It would make a lovely and useful gift for your favorite chef!
