This dark brown shiny straw 1940s hat is trimmed with fabulous, bright red poppies and wired fuzzy green spires. The hat’s flat brim is widest at the center front, and narrows to the back. The brim is wired at its outer edge, the wire covered with brown grosgrain piping. The shallow, flat crown is a bit deeper in back, designed to rest near the back of the head, as shown. Very fine veiling encircles the top surface of the brim, below the floral trim. The hatband is a wide rayon velvet ribbon, which probably used to be green but has faded to more of an ombre shade of brown. In very good condition, this true vintage 1940s straw hat has no other issues to note.
