How adorable is this 1940s-50s winter “pixie” hat and scarf combo? The “stocking cap” style headband hat has long ends that wrap the neck like a scarf, plus red yarn tassels and a yarn “ponytail” at the back of the pointed, elfin crown. The creamy ivory, soft wool knit is striped with bright, lipstick red and navy blue. The flexible headband at the front of the crown is fairly stretchy, to fit well up to approximately a hat size 22 (modern S). I am not sure what the headband is made of, since I’d have to open the knit wool fabric to see it, but it feels medium-weight. This darling, circa late 1940s or early 1950s winter hat is the perfect style for a day spent ice-skating or skiing—or at least, looking like you might do one of those things! It is in excellent condition.

Head size: approx. 21-22 hat size maximum, to avoid headaches.
It easily fits my head, which is 21.5” around, for reference.
