Description
A perfectly feminine 1950s white slip, this piece of mid-century lingerie features sheer lace and floral-embroidered panels on its sweetheart bodice. A wide band of lace also trims the hem. The lightweight nylon fabrics of the full slip (along with the floral lace), are a tricot knit on the embroidered bodice panel and taffeta from waist to hem. The grosgrain ribbon shoulder straps adjust with metal buckles. The slip has a relatively narrow skirt, to fit under most pencil/hourglass-shaped and full skirts and dresses—a versatile style.
In very good to near excellent condition, this true vintage white nylon 1950s slip has one area of faint discoloration just under the front right shoulder strap. It is quite hard to notice, but I have tried to show it clearly by photographing my 2 close-up photos of the upper bodice with a sheet of white paper underneath (see last photo). Since it appears to be deadstock/unworn, based on the look and feel of the fabric and label, I did not launder it. The faint discoloration may improve once this is done, or it may not.
Labeled a size 34, it should fit approximately a modern size extra small to small. See detailed measurements, below. It is certainly pretty enough to wear as a (somewhat sheer) dress, if you like!
