Description
A deadstock 1950s white full slip, this pretty piece of mid-century lingerie features sheer mesh and lace trim. The V-neckline has small pleats in the mesh panels above the bust, and tiny gathers above the underbust seam. The lightweight nylon tricot fabric of the slip is semi-sheer (you can see the “skin” of my mannequin through it). The ribbon shoulder straps adjust with metal buckles. The slip has a waist seam only at the front, and is slightly flared from waist to hem. The original paper hangtag is illustrated with a lovely 1950s lady and metallic silver clouds and daisies. The slip is described as “ whisper light, cloud soft, and petal smooth”! The tag provides washing instructions, inside. The slip has a relatively narrow skirt, to fit under most pencil/hourglass-shaped and full skirts and dresses, a very versatile style
In mint condition, unworn, this white nylon 1950s slip is labeled a size 36, but appears to fit a bit smaller. The smallest area is the chest or bust; the waist and hips are designed to fit more loosely. It is pretty enough to wear as a (somewhat sheer) dress, if you like!
Size: approx. modern XS-S at bust, with looser fit elsewhere.
